The bet between Montgomery and Eisenhower
Captain Evans had only just finished his 27th mission in North Africa when he received highly unusual orders. The young American pilot was to be transferred to the British 8th Army and report without delay to the Army Commander, General Sir Bernard Law Montgomery.
