“Richard Eager” - What’s in a nickname?
Excerpt from the Author’s Preface:
“What is this ‘Richard Eager’ business?” his mother asked when she was on hand in San Antonio, Texas, for his graduation from flying school.
“Mother,” he responded, “my classmates started calling me ‘Eager’ when I was appointed Captain of my class because they thought your son to be too eager.”
“It means, Helen,” his dad interjected with his characteristic grin, “our son is erring on the positive side.”
It is with this view—that of the optimistic, young Richard Eager—that these stories are told.
